Joliet's Light Up the Holidays Festival & Parade @ downtown Joliet

Activities begin downtown as early as 9:30 a.m., and include the Fantastic Fun Fair in the Joliet Area Historical Museum’s auditorium, as well as activities in the Joliet Public Library, Gji’s Sweet Shoppe, Jitters Coffeehouse, Chicken-n-Spice, Chevere Latin Cafe, JJC City Center Campus and more. The Rialto Square Theatre’s annual holiday festivities also add to the holiday spirit in Downtown Joliet.

The weekend will be packed with displays, memorabilia, and special guests. Pop Culture Con is a multi-genre convention of comics, toys, gaming, sci-fi, Legos, TV/movie memorabilia, superheroes, Steampunk, action figures, animé, Cosplay, fantasy, horror, sports memorabilia, vintage music, publishers and artists – anything fan-related!
They have a long list of special guests lined up to appeal to every fan!
• ATHLETES, including: Kurt Becker, former Chicago Bears player, Blackhawk goalie Murray Bannerman; Paul Popovich, former baseball player for the Chicago Cubs & other national teams; and Bobby Douglass, former NFL quarterback for the Chicago Bears & other teams, all sponsored by csac.biz.
• Daniel Emery Taylor, director/writer/actor, seen in “The Return of Swamp Thing,” “Road Trip,” Camp Massacre,” and others.
• Actor Robert Mukes from “House Of 1000 Corpses.”
• John Borowski, award winning independent filmmaker and author
• Jerome Blake.  Jerome acted in SW Episodes I, II, and II as seven different characters – on screen most often was Mas Amedda and Trade Federation Rune Haako.  He also appeared in The Fifth Element and Hitchhiker’s Guide to the Galaxy.
• Ron Fitzgerald: Actor and Gothic Illusionist, Master of the Dark Realm, is an actor, Gothic illusionist and host for dark, sticky fun! He has appeared in films like “The Item,” “The Thirsting,” “Blood Gnome” and more!
• The Horror & SciFi Prop Preservation Association Museum
• FROM THE GAMING WORLD, guests will include Brian F. Colin, game designer (Rampage and Arch Rivals); Richard Divizio, actor/designer/martial artist, known for his work in the Mortal Kombat video game series; Jason Moore, artist in the comics industry; Daniel Pesina, Martial Arts action hero and co-creator of MK and MKII. John Parrish, actor who is best known for his portrayal of Major Jackson “Jax” Briggs in Mortal Kombat II, Mortal Kombat 3, Ultimate Mortal Komat 3, Mortal Kombat Trilogy, and more!
• Experience playing classic vintage arcade games!
• ICON Gaming Super Smash Brothers! “Come hang out with the iCon crew to battle your friends in a friendly (or not so friendly!) game of Super Smash Brothers!
• Pop Samurai Broadcasting, Overdrive Reality Broadcasting and the popular Deadgar’s Dark Coffin Classics, horror TV show
PLUS many, many more – artists, authors, cosplay groups, illustrators, radio personalities, performing artists, publishers – you name it! There will be something to appeal to every fan group!
General admission is $10 for 1 day or $15 for 2 days. Children under 12 are free with adult.
Hours are Saturday 9-6 and Sunday 9-3. Pheasant Run Mega Center is located at 4051 E. Main St. in St. Charles, IL. Parking is free.

Several downtown businesses will come together to provide entertainment options for the community, including pictures with Santa, sleigh rides, crafts, dance performances, writing letters to Santa, and a crèche lighting.

Grinchmas on the Green. 5:30 p.m. at Village Green Park, 24121 West Chicago St., Plainfield. Tree(s) will be lit by the Grinch followed by a 5:45 p.m. showing of the 1966 movie “How the Grinch Stole Christmas.”

Santa comes to Morton Grove on Saturday, December 2. Santa will ride through town on a Morton Grove Fire Truck passing out candy to all the Morton Grove children. Santa will begin his route through town at 10 am from Waukegan Road & Greenwood Street. Santa arrives at the Holly Days Festival, Harrer Park, 6250 Dempster Street visiting with children from 11:30 a.m. to 2 p.m. Be sure to stop by and visit with Santa; children will receive a special surprise.

Journey to the North Pole with the Plainfield Park District! @ Four Seasons Park

Bundle up and join us for a magical wagon ride to the North Pole this year (program #46403)! We’ll sing songs, enjoy snacks, and keep warm by the fire, and visit Santa and his elves! Come out to Four Seasons Park on December 8 or 9 from 5-8 p.m. for a night full of holiday fun!

All children will be able to have their picture taken with Santa, and each child will receive a bell at the end of their visit. Parents, don’t forget to bring your cameras!

Registration deadline is December 7 at 6 p.m. If adding your family to the wait list please add everyone who wishes to attend.

Wagon ride times vary from 5-8 p.m. on both days. For a complete list of available times, please see our Fall/Holiday 2017 brochure or visit plfdparks.org. Please dress appropriately, as this event takes place outdoors.
