DiForti tabbed IBCA District 9 Co-Coach of the Year

Joliet West High School Boys’ Basketball Coach Nick DiForti has been selected as the Illinois Basketball Coaches Association (IBCA) District 9 Co-Coach of the Year. Coach DiForti will be honored on Saturday, April 30 at Illinois State University.

DiForti has been the Head Coach of the West Boys’ Varsity Basketball Team since 2013.  This season, he led the team as they earned record wins and advancements, ending the season at 21-10 overall.  The Tigers were named Regional and Sectional Champions and brought home 4th place at the Pontiac Holiday Tournament Regional Championship.

“This honor means a lot to our program,” said DiForti. “Without a great coaching staff and hardworking players, this award doesn’t mean anything. Though I am honored as co-coach of the year for District 9, this is an honor our entire program can be proud of…for it is everyone’s hard work that made this happen.”

DiForti started his career in basketball at Nazareth Academy and continued his athletic career at Benedictine University. He began coaching lower levels at Marist High School and started head coaching at the age of 25 at Plainfield North High School where he won the school’s first regional Championship and Conference Championship. He later joined the Tiger family in 2013.
