24th Annual All Woodridge Garage Sale: Saturday, August 5

Shop for hidden treasures at the 24th Annual All Village Garage Sale, Woodridge’s largest garage sale of the year. This isn’t your everyday garage sale. You’ll find everything you and your family need including sports equipment, clothing, toys, books, cooking utensils and more from a variety of vendors – all in one location. This event takes place at Echo Point Park, 8115 Woodridge Dr., from 8:30 a.m. to 1:30 p.m.

2017 Go Fore the Green Golf Outing: Monday, August 28

The Illinois Law Enforcement Torch run for Special Olympics would like to invite you to Go Fore The Green! at the 2nd annual golf outing which raises money for Special Olympics Illinois. This golf outing is being held in conjunction with the Law Enforcement Torch Run for Special Olympics and members from several DuPage County Police Departments. The event is at White Pines Golf Course with an 11 a.m. shotgun start. The cost is $125 per golfer/$500 per foursome and includes golf, cart, chances to win prizes in proximity events, breakfast, lunch, and dinner.

Hurry to claim your bike

The Village of Downers Grove is cleaning house of bicycles that have been held for the last six months, but not claimed by any owner.Check the list at www.downers.us. Bikes will be held until August 11.

Downers Grove parking deck maintenance

Downers Grove recently began Phase 2 of recommended maintenance in the downtown parking deck. This work will include concrete, masonry and facade repairs, removal and replacement of sealant materials, door and frame replacement, and miscellaneous repairs throughout the deck. Efforts will be made to minimize the disruptions to parking. As work progresses, more information will be provided in advance of temporary removal of parking spaces needed to perform work.

Westmont park renamed after Diane Main

The Westmont Park District recently renamed Twin Lake Park in honor of Diane Main. She was recognized for her 40-year dedication to the Westmont Park District: She has served on the park board for 40 years ad is currently the president. She is considered instrumental in the Park District’s growth from 32 acres of parks in 1978 to 137 acres in 2017. She also played a key role in the development of Ty Warner Park, Twin Lake Golf Course, Twin Lakes Woods, Westmont Skatepark, Ty Warner Splash Park and Westmont Senior Center.
