At its December 7 meeting, East Maine School District 63’s Board of Education recognized the eight finalists in the District’s 2016 Winter Card Design Contest. Top honors went to Melzer Elementary 5th Grader Isabella Rozenbergas, whose winter scene is featured on this year’s District 63 winter card.

This is the first year District 63 has held the card contest; a chance for all students, K-8th grade, to submit a winter design and vie for the chance to decorate the District card, which is mailed to more than 300 community leaders, parent leaders, elected officials, and donors. Fifty-seven students, representing all seven District 63 schools, submitted entries, which were judged by a committee of administrators and other District 63 staff.

As the contest winner, Rozenbergas is also Best in 5th Grade. Other Best in Grade winners are:

Kindergarten Marcus Sugar, Apollo School; 4th Grade Shalini Patel, Melzer School

1st Grade Aroush Khan, Apollo School; 6th Grade Jakub Winkowski

Nelson School; 2nd Grade Danial Saqib, Apollo School; 7th Grade Faith Youngbrandt, Gemini Junior High;3 rd Grade Krishiv Malhotra, Apollo School

District 63 Winter Card Contest Winners Honored All winners took home special certificates from the Board – while Rozenbergas received a special frame featuring her card and a Certificate of Recognition from the Board. All 57 entries are will be on display at the Niles Public Library District, 6960 West Oakton Street, through the month of December. Stop by and check it out!
