Joliet Central High School photography students to exhibit their work

Joliet Central High School photography students Noelle Lefever and Mayra Pensado will have their artwork exhibited at the University of St. Francis Art and Design Department Illinois High School Art Competition and Exhibition Gallery.

The exhibit spans the university’s gallery and includes more than 150 works of art from Illinois high school students, said Jennifer Moore, director of the gallery

“I encourage students to create their work for the outside world,” said Joe Baltz, photography instructor. “To truly become an artist one must share one’s vision, talent and work with others. Artists create a silent community between themselves and the viewers.”

Cash awards for first, second and third place and scholarship winners will be announced at the public reception which will be held from 12-2 p.m. on Jan. 17.

The University of Saint Francis Gallery is open from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. Tuesday through Friday.
