The date has been set for the 12th Annual Community Garage Sale which will be held rain or shine on Saturday, Sept. 23, from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. in the parking lot at Maine Township Town Hall, 1700 Ballard Road, Park Ridge. Organized by the MaineStay Youth & Family Services department of Maine Township, the event is sponsored by Maine Township, Journal & Topics Newspapers, Senior News 50 & Better, and the Suburban Resource Guide for Seniors.

“Our garage sale is one of our most popular events and allows kids to go to our Summer Adventure Camp,” says Laura J. Morask, Township Supervisor. “So for a fun day, you get to declutter your house and sell all those piled up items for which you have been waiting to do a garage sale….we take care of the hassle and also have a wonderful assortment of community vendors and sponsors.”

Area residents and other garage sale enthusiasts can participate in several ways. People can reserve space to sell their own items, make a financial donation or come and find bargains for themselves. Township residents may sign up for spaces beginning Monday, Aug. 7. All non-township residents may sign up beginning one week later on Monday, Aug. 14.

Spaces, which are eight by sixteen feet, are $25 each. Premium outdoor spaces are $30. Table rentals are available for $10. Four premium indoor spaces inside the garage are $75 and include a table. All spaces are sold on a first-come, first served basis.

Free coffee sponsored by Supervisor Morask will be offered. Food items including donuts and hot dogs will be available for purchase. MaineStay will raffle off one bicycle for a boy and one for a girl.

Event proceeds benefit the Adventure Maine Township Summer Camp for at-risk youth and the Township’s food pantry which serves hundreds of families each month.
