Plainfield will hold an informational meeting on Nov. 18, from 6 to 8 p.m., at the Village Hall, 24401 W. Lockport St., regarding the proposed improvement of 127th Street, from Heggs Road to just west of Route 30.
The meeting will be informal and a brief presentation regarding the proposed improvements will begin at 7 p.m. with a question and answer session to follow. Last yard waste pickup dates scheduled
The last day for yard waste pickup is Nov. 30 for residents with Monday pickup; Dec. 2 for residents with Wednesday pickup; and Dec. 3 for residents with Thursday pickup.
Leaves are considered yard waste and are not an exception to the final yard waste collection date. Yard waste collection will resume in April 2016.
All yard waste (brush, grass clippings and leaves) must be properly packaged in kraft yard waste bags and/or a Waste Management yard waste cart.
Branches must be tied in 4-foot bundles weighing 50 pounds or less. Sod, trees, stumps, dirt, stones and landscape brick/pavers are not accepted as yard waste.
Residents invited to participate in DuPage Watershed Study
The Army Corps of Engineers is studying the potential effects associated with flooding within the DuPage River watershed. They are hosting several public meetings for residents to learn more about the study and offer their input.
In Will County, the first meeting will be held at 6 p.m. Nov. 16 at the Bolingbrook Golf Club, 2001 Rodeo Drive, Bolingbrook; the second meeting is scheduled for 6 p.m. Nov. 18 at the Shorewood Village Hall, One Towne Center, Shorewood.
The study will investigate overbank and backwater flooding along the river and its major tributaries, and focus on possible structural and non-structural alternatives to reduce flood risks.
The following communities are part of the study in Will County: Bolingbrook, Joliet, Romeoville, Crest Hill, Plainfield, Minooka, Channahon, Plainfield Township and Wheatland Township.
