Skoff students offer breakfast invitation to all veterans

The students of Skoff Elementary School host their annual Veterans’ Day Pancake Breakfast on Sat. Nov. 4 at 8:30 a.m. All Veterans are invited and can attend and eat for free. Tickets for others in attendance supporting veterans are $3 and can be purchased at the door. The students would like for everyone attending the breakfast to dress in red, white, and blue to show their appreciation for those who are, or have served, in our Armed Forces. After breakfast, the Skoff 2nd Graders will sing patriotic songs in honor of the veterans.

McGee kindergarten teacher named to state panel

Jamie McGee Elementary School Kindergarten Teacher Gina Jordan has been selected by the Illinois State Board of Education to participate in a panel regarding assessment of Kindergarten students. Jordan participated in a field study of the Kindergarten Individual Development Survey (KIDS) giving her additional expertise in assessment of Kindergarten students. Jordan will be part of a panel discussing “How Kindergarten Assessment Transforms Learning Environments” at the annual “Triple I” state education conference on Sat. Nov. 18

School board meeting

The next meeting of the Valley View School District Board of Education is Monday, November 13 at 7 p.m. at John J. Lukancic Middle School, 725 W. Normantown Rd, Romeoville. In accordance with the Open Meetings Act, the Agenda for the meeting will be posted no later than 48 hours prior to the start of the meeting.

National STEM Day Nov. 8

CITGO is hosting their inaugural National STEM Day event on Wed. Nov. 8 from 6-9 p.m. at Lockport Township High School East Campus.  Attendees, both students and adults, will enjoy hands on STEM activities and live demonstrations as well as interactive food and beverage stations.
