Sharon L. Barbic

Sharon L. Barbic (nee Ryan), 75, a resident of Crest Hill, passed away peacefully on Friday, June 2, 2017 at her home while surrounded by her family. She was born March 30, 1942 to the late Lucille (nee Kelly) and Dennis Ryan.

Sharon was raised on a farm on Weber and Renwick roads and lived in the area her entire life. She was a lifelong member of St. Mary Immaculate Catholic Church in Plainfield.

Sharon graduated in 1960 from St. Francis Academy in Joliet, received an associate’s degree from Joliet Junior College, and worked for the Lockport area Special Education as a tester for their pre-school program. Sharon was active in the St. Mary Immaculate Church Mother’s Club and CCW. A former 4-H leader, she loved flowers and gardening and spending time with her family at their river house in Wilmington.

Beloved wife of Larry Barbic, whom she married May 20, 1961, loving mother of Susan Minott-(Neil) Freeman, Joseph (Kathy) Barbic and the late Mike (Linda) Barbic, adored grandmother of Michael (Kim) Barbic, Madalyn and Grace Barbic; Ryan (Samantha) Minott, Megan Minott and the late Sean Minott; Cal, Max and Laney Barbic, cherished great-grandmother of Mattison Bustamante, dear sister of Kay (the late Walter) Blum and Dennis (Nancy) Ryan, sister-in-law of Carol Barbic, Mary (Frank) Golf and Darlene Ryan, daughter-in-law of the late Louis and Mary (nee Zbacnik) Barbic, special niece of Marge Shields, mother-in-law of the late Tim Minott, fond aunt, great-aunt and friend of many.

Visitation was, June 7 at Overman-Jones Funeral Home & Cremation Services, 15219 S. Joliet Rd., Plainfield.

A Mass of Christian Burial was June 8 at St. Mary Immaculate Parish, 15629 S. Rt. 59, Plainfield.

Interment: St. Mary Immaculate Cemetery, Plainfield.
