Register for the annual JJC Haunted 5K run, walk

A new element added to Harvest Fest this year is the 40th annual DG 5 & 8 Miler. In years past, the race was typically hosted in June.

The Joliet Junior College Foundation and Athletics Department are proud to host the fourth annual Haunted 5K Run and Walk on Sunday, Oct. 22 on the Main Campus, 1215 Houbolt Road in Joliet. All ages are invited to attend; in addition to the 5K, there will be a one-mile race for children under 12.

Schedule:

7 a.m.: Race day registration/packet pick-up

8:30 a.m.: One-mile Kids Monster Dash (12 and under)

9 a.m.:  Haunted 5K Run and Walk

The entry fee for the 5K is $30, which increases to $35 after Oct. 1. The Kids Monster Dash is $15.

The first 500 race registrants in the 5K and Monster Dash will receive Haunted 5K winter hats while supplies last. Kids who participate in the Monster Dash will also receive a medal.

Participants will enjoy a certified, flat, paved course around JJC’s spooky campus, and the race will be timed using chip-timing.  Everyone is also invited to wear Halloween costumes in this themed race. After the race, runners and their families are encouraged to stay for fun activities, face painting, candy and more.

The 2016 JJC Haunted 5K Run and Walk saw a record numbers of participants, at nearly 430. Altogether, the 2016 race raised $40,000 for JJC student scholarships, college programs and athletics.
