The temperatures were cool but pleasant on Nov. 25, as visitors by the hundreds poured into downtown Plainfield and the Village Green for this year’s Christmas tree lighting and holiday celebration.

For the second year, the Plainfield Park District hosted a special Candlelight Christmas at the Village Green.

The event featured pictures with Santa, a visit with the Grinch himself, hot cocoa and snacks, the Village Green tree lighting, and a showing of How the Grinch Stole Christmas.

Local groups sponsored and decorated trees all around the park.

The trees will remain up until the first week of January.

The event was hosted by the park district and the Chamber of Commerce, and coincided with Small Business Saturday.
