On Friday, December 11, 2020, just after 10:00 pm, Lisle Police responded to an armed robbery in the area of Four Lakes Drive and Eastlake Drive. When Debra Mejeur lost her dog, Lola, in October 2017, she never thought she would see her furry friend again. But thanks to a microchip, DuPage County Animal Services reunited Debra and her husband Steven Mejeur with Lola on Saturday. Lola, black Labrador mix, wandered away from a home in Elk Grove Village where her owners were visiting friends in 2017. More than 107,000 Illinois workers filed first-time unemployment claims last week, a 45-percent increase over the week before as the COVID-19 pandemic continued to wreak havoc on the state and national economies. The Illinois Department of Employment Security reported that there were 107,616 new claims filed during the week that ended Saturday, Dec. 5, up from 75,536 the previous week. The Troy Community School District 30-C school board recently approved a collaboration between the district and the Joliet Public and Shorewood-Troy Libraries, that allows all Troy students who live in the library districts to more easily obtain a library card. Gov. JB Pritzker said Thursday his administration has requested the help of the Illinois National Guard at three of four state-run veterans homes, including two homes that are dealing with COVID-19 outbreaks.
