    Lewis University’s women’s soccer team placed eighth in the annual Great Lakes Valley Conference preseason poll. The Flyers were 9-7-2 last season and had an 8-5 ledger in league play. Lewis received 128 points and are sandwiched between Maryville (162) and Lindenwood (125).     A Joliet man was arrested Aug. 27 after reportedly shooting a teen and an infant. Both victims, a 19-year-old man and his 1-year-old child, were hospitalized with non-life threatening injuries, according to police.     The Village of Downers Grove has again been selected as one of the Top 50 Greenest Fleets in North America.
