Lightning strikes are a rare event in the Joliet area in January. The percentage greatly increases where and whenever the Joliet West boys varsity basketball team is playing this winter. An 18-year-old man allegedly ended the year by robbing a Joliet bank. According to police, at 11:10 a.m. Dec. 31 Arus L. Woods came into Merchants and Manufacturers Bank, 601 E. When his bladder cancer returned in 2019, Gavin McHugh, 54, a Naperville resident, knew he was in for a more complex surgery than the one he had in 2018 to remove a tumor from his bladder wall.
