Park district looks to fill board vacancy

Open seat expires April 2017

The Downers Grove Park Board announced that it is now accepting letters of interest and resumes from residents for a vacant seat on the Board of Park Commissioners. The vacancy will be created upon the formal resignation of Commissioner Damienne Souter, who is resigning to pursue a higher-education degree.

According to the Illinois Park District Code, a candidate must be a registered voter who has resided within the park district’s boundaries for at least one year prior to appointment. Candidates are asked to submit a letter of interest describing why they are interested in serving on the park board, along with a resume on or before Sept. 8 at noon. The candidate selected to fill Souter’s vacant seat will be selected by the current board members and will serve the remainder of the term, which expires April 2017. At that time, the position will stand for election as a full four year term.
