An early morning house fire caused extensive damage but no injuries in Park Ridge.

According to reports from the Park Ridge Fire Department, on Tuesday, Jan. 9, at 3:27 a.m., the Park Ridge Fire Department responded to a call from the 500 block of N. Redfield Court for a reported fire next to a building.

Fire companies arrived at the scene in six minutes and found a single-family home with fire visible from the attached garage. The residents of the home had already safely evacuated prior to the arrival of the Fire Department. Crews stretched a hoseline to attack the fire from a hole in the garage door where the fire was visible. Other crews moved to the interior of the home to check for any extension and to prevent the fire from spreading to the residence. Once the bulk of the fire was extinguished, crews worked on overhaul to ensure that the fire was out completely and the smoke was ventilated from the building. There were no injuries to the residents or Fire Department personnel.

This fire is still under investigation at this point by Park Ridge Fire Department investigators. Initial estimates of fire loss are approximately $75,000.

The Park Ridge Fire Department was assisted on scene by companies from the Rosemont and Niles fire departments.
