8th Grade Spaghetti Dinner. 5 to 8 p.m. at St. Mary Immaculate Parish School, 15629 Route 59. Enjoy a Spaghetti Dinner prepared and served by the eighth graders and their parents. $5 for seniors and children over 5, children 5 years and under are free, and $7 for adults, with a maximum of $25 per family. Space: The Final Frontier. 1 to 2:30 p.m. at Joliet Area Historical Museum, 204 N. Ottawa St. Joliet.  An “Out Of This World” Special Exhibit that explores the relationship between Science and Science Fiction. Michael C. Phifer “The Collector” will conduct a Special Talk & Tour of the new Special Exhibit,which includes much of his own artwork and collectibles. There is something for all ages, Sci-Fi fans, Trekkies, Star Wars fans and everyone in between!  This special program is FREE for Museum members and $6 for general public. Proceeds from this event benefit the Museum’s Educational & Exhibits Departments.


Knights of Columbus Breakfast. 8 a.m. to 12 p.m. at St. Mary Immaculate Parish Gym, 15629 S. Route 59, Plainfield. The menu includes scrambled eggs, sausages and french toast, along with juice and coffee. FREE WILL DONATIONS will be gratefully accepted. Remember to bring items for the Plainfield Interfaith Food Pantry.



Financial Peace University. 7 to 9 p.m. at First Presbyterian Church, at Western and Raynor, Joliet. It will continue for the next eight consecutive Mondays. We all need to plan for our money. Dave Ramsey’s FPU is that plan. It teaches God’s ways of handling money. FPU will show you how to get rid of debt, manage your money, spend and save wisely, and much more.  The cost is $93 per household (adults and teens).  Call the First Presbyterian Church office at 815-727-9259 to purchase your class membership; there are a limited number available at this reduced rate.  Child care is available.



Coffee with the Superintendent. 8:30 to 9:30 a.m. at the District Office, 5800 W. Theodore St. The event will be an informal time to drop in and meet Superintendent Dr. Todd Koehl for a chat or to ask questions about the district. Troy’s Director of Human Resources, Paul Schrik, will also attend. This will be the second of the three open audiences with administrators the district will host this school year. The final one will be May 5 with Dr. Koehl and Assistant Superintendent for Teaching and Learning Anne Gmazel.



Family Game Night. 6:30 to 7:30 p.m. at Plainfield Township Community Center, 15014 Des Plaines St. Let the games begin! Parents can challenge their kids during this fun Game Night! There will be some fun, new games like giant Jenga, Connect 4, Kerplunk and more! Find out who wins, the parents or the kids!



Volunteer Fair. 11 a.m. to 2 p.m. at Plainfield Public Library, 15025 S. Illinois St. You can make a difference in your community when you become a volunteer, join a local service organization or both. Gather information while talking with representatives from over 20 different organizations that need your help to feed the hungry, nurture the environment, shelter animals, donate blood and so much more.

Coffee with the Superintendent. 8:30 to 9:30 a.m. at District 202 Administrative Center, 15732 Howard St., Plainfield. All District 202 residents are invited and welcome to attend Coffees with the  Superintendent. The Coffee format is open and  informal. The Superintendent does not prepare a formal agenda. Rather, attendees “set” each Coffee’s agenda through their questions.


Super Bowl Sunday Tamales. 8:30 a.m. to 1:30 p.m. at St. Mary Immaculate Parish, 15629 Route 59, Plainfield. Join for the eighth annual super tamale fest. Blood Drive. 3:30 to 7:30 p.m. in Cana Hall of St. Mary Immaculate Parish, 15629 S. Route 59, Plainfield. Knights of Columbus Council #5573, in conjunction with Heartland Blood Centers and the Plainfield Fire District will sponsor a blood drive. If you donated blood at the Fire District in December you are eligible to donate at this drive. To make an appointment or for information, contact Rich Blaszak at 815-254-7078. 100+ Women Who Care Meeting. 5:30-6:30 p.m. at Mullets 14903 S. Bell Road, Homer Glen. 100+ Women, 1 Hour, equals $10,000 to a local charity. Come learn more about the group. For more information, visit
