Plainfield Rotary’s Blues & Brews night helps full scholarship coffers

The Rotary Club of Plainfield recently held their first Rotary Blues & Brews at Warehouse 109 with live blues from Chicago Blues Angels. By all accounts it was a huge success. Attendees enjoyed local brews and spirits from Nevin’s Brewing Company, Metal Monkey Brewery and Black Dog Distillery and food selections from BABYQ’s and Tacos R Us. Many took home fantastic raffle prizes donated by community supporters; one 50/50 raffle winner graciously made a donation back to the club.

The club is proud to announce they raised enough funds to cover their 2018 Plainfield Senior Scholarship Program. Not only do they award scholarships to students attending college, but have expanded the program to also include students entering trade schools. Scholarship applications will be available in the high schools and on their website in April. The club has annually awarded scholarships for over 30 years, made possible by successful events like this one.

The Rotary Club of Plainfield also is running a coat drive for those in need this winter. They are collecting gently used outerwear, new hats and gloves. Additional donations can be dropped off at 59 Auto Repair, 24010 W Renwick Road, Plainfield, located behind Thornton’s.

The members of the Rotary Club of Plainfield wish to thank all of the sponsors and supporters who helped make this event a tremendous success.  With the continued support of sponsors and the community members, the club can continue to help make a significant impact for people in our community.

The Rotary Club of Plainfield meets the 1st and 3rd Thursday at HopScotch & Vine at 5:30 p.m. The last Thursday is a Rotary on the Road, which is usually a service project or patronizing a sponsor. www.RotaryPlainfieldIL.org, 866.277.8617.
