Residents to enjoy night under the stars

Shorewood residents are invited to enjoy a night under the stars at the Family Camp Out event Sept. 6.

The village will host the all-ages event in Shorewood Park. Costs are $5 per resident and $10 for non-residents.

Pre-registration is required. Participants should bring their own tents, sleeping bags and other camping essentials.

Check in begins at 5 p.m. and a dinner of hot dogs and chips will be served. After crafts, activities and S'mores, evening events will end at 9 p.m.

One of the activities this year is making a bracelet from para-cord, which are not only fashionable, but can be used in survival situations.

A pancake breakfast will be served the next morning and campsites should be cleared by 10:30 a.m.
