Village Green Project Update

The drainage work at the intersection of Des Plaines Street and Ottawa Street has been completed and the contractor is currently working on storm sewer installation on Ottawa Street between Des Plaines and Illinois Streets. The intersection of Ottawa Street and Illinois Street will be closed beginning Friday, November 1, to complete the installation of the storm sewer. It will reopen by the end of the day on Tuesday, November 5th.

Project Information: Construction in Downtown Plainfield, south of Lockport Street, is part of the underground utility improvements in the Village Green area (Fox River Drive, Commercial Street, Ottawa Street, Chicago Street, Des Plaines Street, and Illinois Street). The project includes water main and water service replacement, sanitary sewer main extensions, and new storm sewer.

Office Closure

The Village Offices will be closed November 11 in observance of Veterans Day. Please note: This holiday will not change your refuse, recycling, and yard waste pickup.

Green Village Program

The 2019 Green Village Series continues on Monday, November 11 at 7 p.m., at the Plainfield Library. In the book, A Rich and Fertile Land: A History of Food in America, professor and author Bruce Kraig investigates how American food habits transformed the Midwest from untouched prairies to the nation’s farming heartland. Register online. The Green Village Series is a partnership between the Plainfield Library and the Village to provide the community with environmentally-friendly programs.

Coffee with the Mayor

Everyone is invited to join Mayor Collins for coffee and conversation on Wednesday, November 13, at 9 a.m. at the Village Hall, 24401 W. Lockport Street. This is a great opportunity to learn more about the Village!

TRIAD Meeting

The Plainfield Senior TRIAD will meet on Monday, November 25, at 10:30 a.m., at American House Cedarlake, 14800 S. Van Dyke Road. This month’s program will focus on Scam Updates/Crime Prevention. For more information, please contact Officer Brett Keag at (815) 267-7207.

Curb & Sidewalk Program

The 2019 Curb and Sidewalk replacement program is underway. Concrete saw cutting has started and concrete removal and replacement will follow. The limits of concrete curb and sidewalk scheduled for replacement have been marked with pink paint. Please mark any underground sprinkler and invisible fence systems to minimize the potential for damage.
