Thin Ice Ensemble Theater kicks off its 2019-20 on December 6th and 7th with the iconic
theatrical adventure The Wizard of Oz. Journey over the rainbow with Dorothy as she is swept
by a frightening twister into the bucolic but troubled land of Oz. Eventually, Dorothy learns that
courage, loyalty, and friendship can conquer all and most importantly, there is "no place like
home".
The Thin Ice Ensemble Theater production includes the wonderful characters audiences have
come to expect, along with a few exciting twists. The production is directed by Eileen Hand, Thin
Ice Ensemble Theater's Artistic Director. Oz costume design is by Patty Mueller. The Wizard of
Oz set design is by Samantha Gee with lighting by Marissa Geracacis. Original music for this
production is written by the assistant director Daniel Phillips (Evanston).
Local youth Annie Gallo and Thomas Gallo (Chicago) will play Dorothy and the Scarecrow.
Glynnis and Elora Kloster (Evanston) play the Tin Man and Toto. Other cast members Ruthie
Sherwin, Thomas Sherwin, Jerry Sherwin (Evanston) Sasha Rogers (Skokie) Nahern Eshw
(Skokie), Jack Wolf, (Skokie) round out the cast of Munchkins and Ozites. Stage management
is supervised by Sara Yenter-Briars (Glenview).
Eileen Hand, Artistic Director of Thin Ice Ensemble Theater is excited to direct a show that
everyone knows to the stage. She states, "Directing this show gives us a chance to interject a
few surprises into the iconic story. Everyone has a story about this story. I am especially pleased
that my young student director has written original music for this show."
