The Workforce Center of Will County has released the December schedule for workshops and events. From developing or updating a resume, to brushing up on interviewing skills, the center offers these services and others at no cost to Will County residents.
Adult Education Information Session - will be held at 1:00 p.m. on Weds. Dec. 11 and will explain the services offered by the Joliet Junior College Department of Adult Education and Literacy, including English as a Second Language, basic skill development classes, high school equivalency (GED) classes, volunteer tutor program, and other college classes. Industry Orientation – career scholarships are available to residents interested in high demand occupations who meet eligibility requirements. Visit http://www.jobs4people.org to register or call (815) 727-4444 to attend an industry orientation. Advance registration is required.
Professional/Financial/Information Technology orientation will be held at 1:30 p.m. on Mon. Dec. 2, 2:30 p.m. on Thurs. Dec. 12 and 9:00 a.m. on Tues. Dec. 17.
Manufacturing/Transportation/Distribution/Logistics orientation will be held at 9:00 a.m. on Tues. Dec. 3, 1:30 p.m. on Mon. Dec. 9 and 2:30 p.m. on Thurs. Dec. 19.
Healthcare orientation will be held at 2:30 p.m. on Thurs. Dec. 5, 9:00 a.m. on Tues. Dec. 10 and 1:30 p.m. on Mon. Dec. 16.
On the Job Training Orientation – is available to Will County residents who are interested in learning new skills on the job in a range of high demand industries. These are scheduled for 10:00 a.m. on Mondays in December, Dec. 2, 9, 16, 23, and 30.
Alison.com Orientation ¬– 1:30 p.m. on Fri. Dec. 6, offers more than 1,000 free online courses to help learners earn a certificate or diploma in more than 300 categories. Orientation includes an overview of courses, how to set up an Alison account, and how to earn a certificate or diploma.
Illinois JobLink Workshop - this workshop will be held at 2:00 p.m. on Mon. Dec. 2, 9:30 a.m. on Tues. Dec. 10 and Tues. Dec. 17, and 9:00 a.m. on Mon. Dec. 30.and will teach attendees how to register with JobLink by creating and uploading a resume and tips for getting the most views from employers.
Job Club Toolkit – will be held at 3:00 p.m. on Weds. Dec. 4. This networking event allows job seekers to share job leads, learn job search skills, and hear from guest speakers.
Job Readiness Workshop – is offered at 9:30 a.m. on Weds. Dec. 4 and gives an overview of resources for job seekers including networking, completing applications, resumes, interviewing, and using the Illinois JobLink.
LinkedIn Lab – Starting Your Profile – 10:00 a.m. on Mon. Dec. 16. A hands on approach to create a basic account to assist in job searches. Come dressed to impress for a photo to add to you LinkedIn account.
LinkedIn Lab – Maximize Your Profile – 10:30 a.m. on Mon. Dec. 16. Learn how to use LinkedIn features and best practices to successfully find a job.
Master Your Job Search Workshop – 10:00 a.m. on Fri. Dec. 20. – review basic job search techniques, networking, using the Internet in job search, and salary negotiation.
Math Review – 10:00 a.m. on Tues. Dec. 3 and 2:00 p.m. on Thurs. Dec. 19 will give a review of basic math skills including addition, subtraction, multiplication, and division, fractions, decimals, percent and integers.
Microsoft Office Suite –
Word - 10:30 a.m. Weds. Dec. 4, 2:30 p.m. and Mon. Dec. 23, learn how to create a professional resume and cover letter.
Power Point - 10:00 a.m. Weds. Dec. 11, learn create a professional presentation.
