New Playgrounds open at The Reserve and Bott Parks

The newly-upgraded playgrounds at The Reserve, 14045 Hunt Club Lane, and Bott Park, 24550 W. Renwick Rd., are now open.

The park revamps are part of the Plainfield Park District's 5-year master plan which included updates to a total of 6 parks in 2019.

THE RESERVE

The Reserve Playground renovation features a school-age structure with transfer access, multiple slides, climbers and links, and peaked roofs. A small pre-school structure features a transfer access, slide, panel and climber, as well as a peaked roof. The swing set includes 2 belt swing, an ADA swing, and a tot swing. The playground access is enhanced with a new ramp access point into the engineered wood fiber surface.

The basketball court will be resurfaced and color coated in the spring of 2020.

BOTT PARK PLAYGROUND

The Bott Park Playground renovation is a universally accessible play environment featuring the following amenities:

SCHOOL-AGE AREA

This area features a modular play structure with ramp access up to 4', an 8' spiral slide, multiple climbers and slides and an exciting net and climber system linked to the structure with ground level access. This structure also features below deck panels and activities for imaginative play, and interactive panels and elements throughout. At-grade musical play elements compliment the structure with a multigenerational play experience.

PRE-SCHOOL AREA

This area is right next to the existing shelter and features a unique modern play structure designed for ages 2-5 that allows children to climb and interact at their own pace throughout the structure, featuring small interactive elements such as spinners and mirrors as well as climbers and slides.

A play house and some talk tubes expand on the interactive and social play. An accessible car spring rider and spinner with back support incorporate movement. This area also features a swing set with two standard belt swings, 2 sets of standard expression swings, an ADA expression swing, and a tot expression swing.

The entire new playground area is covered with an artificial turf safety surface for enhanced accessibility and a clean look that blends in beautifully with the park setting.

Accessible paths were added throughout the play environment with an accessible route to and from PARC, and a new asphalt path around the play area connecting to the concession area where a small plaza with picnic tables (2 ADA accessible) enhances the park experience. In addition, the basketball courts were resurfaced and color coated.

The project also features a challenge course and 40-yard dash feature which will be completed in the spring of 2020.
