No. 3 Raiders run past Tomcats at historic Kivisto Fieldhouse
The No. 2-ranked Raiders,traveled to Aurora for a date with East Aurora Tomcats at historic Ernie Kivisto Gymnasium. Kivisto was the legendary IHSBCA Hall of Fame head coach of the Tomcats from 1967-1981.
Kivisto won 300 games at East, including finishing in fourth-place in the old single-class IHSA State Tournament in 1969 and then finishing in third-place in the first year of Class AA hoops in 1972.
Kivisto moved his family to the Tucson, Arizona-area and win four Arizona state basketball championships in the final stop of his illustrious coaching career.
Ernie loved to run-and-gun . His Tomcat teams, averaged over 90 points-per-game.
On Wednesday night in the gym that bears his name, East Aurora ran with the Raiders and Bolingbrook ran past the Tomcats 92-76.
The Raiders improve to 16-4, while the Tomcats fall to 13-8.
The Raiders will be back at Kivisto Gymnasium,on February 8 for the 10th Annual Ernie Kivisto Shootout.
