EAST SUBURBAN CATHOLIC

The Dons fell behind 12-2 in the first quarter and trailed 21-12 in the second quarter before grinding out the ESCC victory at home. With the win, Notre Dame (26-4, 8-1) grabs a share of the ESCC championship with Marian Catholic (22-7, 8-1).

Juniors Troy D' Amico and Louis Lesmond, each scored 16 points to lead the Dons. Junior Anthony Sayles chipped in with a dozen points.

Benet 43 St. Viator 40

The Redwings (21-8, 7-2) led 8-7 after one quarter, only to be run over by the host Lions (18-9, 5-4) in a 23-point St. Viator second quarter, to trail the Lions 30-20 at the half.

The Redwing defense flew out of their halftime locker room and completely smothered the Lions second-half offense, holding them to 10 second-half points for the victory.

SOUTHWEST SUBURBAN BLUE

Bolingbrook 66 Sandburg 38

The Raiders (25-5, 6-1) took care of business in the SWSC Blue, by hammering the Eagles in Orland Park. The huge road victory sets up Tuesday's SWSC Blue showdown with H-F (23-3, 7-0).

ILLINOIS CENTRAL 8

Lisle 54 Streator 51

After Nick Balaban's Lisle girls took home the inaugaral IC-8 championship, it would only be right for Mark LaScala's Lisle boys to do the same. On Friday night, in far-away Streator (19-10, 10-4), the Lions stunned the Bulldogs for the IC-8 title-clinching victory. Unlike the Lisle girls who won the IC-8 outright, the boys had to share the inaugaral title with Coal City (18-11,11-3) and Manteno (18-12, 11-3).

Joliet West 55 Plainfield South 48

The Cougars (9-22, 3-12) gave No.2 Joliet West (24-4, 15-0) all they could handle on Plainfield's South Side.

SOUTHWEST PRAIRIE WEST

Oswego East 63 Plainfield North 46

With a chance to grab a share of the SPC West title, the Tigers (19-10, 10-5) were smashed by the Wolves (19-10 12-3) on Friday. The loss ends the Tigers' 11-game winning streak and gives Oswego East the SPC West title.

Christian Lucas led the Tigers with 17 points and Cooper Bridges chipped in with 13.

SOUTHWEST SUBURBAN BLUE

Lockport 53 Lincoln-Way East 42

The Porters (13-16. 3-5) picked up the victory in Lockport over the last-place Griffins (12-15, 1-6).

SOUTHWEST PRAIRIE EAST

Plainfield East 70 Romeoville 56

The red-hot Bengals continued to roll, romping past the Spartans (15-15, 10-5) on Plainfield's East Side on Friday. The Bengals (9-20, 6-9), roared out to a 37-23 lead at the half and never looked back. The Bengals, extended their lead to 56-36 after three quarters and cruised to their third win in a row.

The Steelmen (12-18, 6-9) surprised the Wildcats (15-12, 8-7) in Plainfield on Friday night.

CENTRAL SUBURBAN SOUTH

Niles West 40 Glenbrook North 36

The Wolves (13-17, 2-8) with the win sent the Spartans (9-20, 1-9) into the CSL South basement.

METRO SUBURBAN RED

Westmont 67 St. Edward 36

The Sentinels (13-18, 5-7) traveled to Elgin and destroyed the Green Wave (9-22, 2-10) on Friday.

NON-CONFERENCE

Downers Grove South 55 Lane Tech 51

Kris Olson's Mustangs are peaking at the right time. On Friday night, just a couple of miles west of Wrigley Field, the Mustangs stunned the Indians of Lane Tech. The Indians (13-16) are members of the mighty Chicago Public League Red-West North. A nice feather in the cap for the surging Mustangs (9-18).
