North Shore Senior Center will temporarily close to public as a precaution starting Thursday, March 12

As news of the Coronavirus (COVID-19) continues to develop, and the World Health Organization has declared this outbreak a pandemic, North Shore Senior Center is taking a proactive stance to close our buildings to the public. Effective at 9 a.m. on Thursday, March 12, all North Shore Senior Center locations will be closed, including the Northfield location at 161 Northfield Road, House of Welcome Adult Day Services at 1779 Winnetka Road, the Niles office at 7900A Milwaukee Avenue, and the Evanston office in the Evanston Civic Center. Staff will be on premises in all of our locations. Please note all social services, adult protective services and North Shore Senior Options will continue to function normally at this time.

We want to make clear that there have been NO reports of any staff, volunteers, participants, clients or visitors contracting the virus, testing positive or having had any exposure to the virus. We are following guidelines recommended by the U.S. Centers for Disease Control (CDC) and Centers for Medicare and Medicaid Services (CMS), as well as the Illinois Department of Public Health. This is entirely a precautionary measure. Our #1 priority is to do everything we can to help protect the health and safety of all older adults, their families and our community by limiting contact with others at our locations.

Therefore, starting Thursday, March 12, all programs, the lending closet, classes, activities, meetings, support groups and events are canceled until further notice. We will provide updates on our website every Thursday (and more often if news warrants) to let you know if the cancellations extend through the following week.

Thank you for your patience as we navigate this ever-changing situation. For more information, please check our website, http://www.nssc.org, or call 847.784.6000.
