South handles North in battle of Downers Grove

This one was deadlocked at 3-3 as the game moved to the bottom of the sixth.
Tigers senior Matt Barribal walked with one out. Senior Dom Curcio got an infield single before Tigers junior Brandon Bak singled home fellow junior courtesy runner Joe Vietti with the eventual game-winning run putting the Tigers up 4-3.
The valiant SPC West-leading Indians (7-5, 4-1) rallied after two out.
Junior Ryan Norman induced a walk from Tiger junior reliever Ryan "Snaps" Silva. Junior Caleb Parker singled to left.
Snaps retired the hard-hitting Indians junior, Ivan Dahlberg, for the final out of the game.
Silva (2-0) allowed just two hits in his five scoreless innings of relief to pick up the win.
Bak finished with 2-for-3 and drove home three of the four Tiger runs. Senior Jake Rock singled, doubled and drove home a Tigers run. Senior Alex Brodie chipped in with two singles for North (8-2, 3-2).
Hard-luck starting and losing Indians pitcher, freshman Ryan Anderson (0-2) fired a six-hitter at the Tigers allowing just two earned runs with two strikeouts. Senior Joey Gould singled and drove home an Indians run, while sophomore Sully Minor went 1-for-2 in the game.
The rubber-match of the huge SPC West series, which will be back at Minooka, is scheduled for Thursday at 4:30 p.m.

DOWNERS GROVE SOUTH 14 DOWNERS GROVE NORTH 5
Another edition of the District 99 Crosstown Classic took place on Downers Grove's South Side on Tuesday. After two innings the Downers Grove South Mustangs led the Downers Grove North Trojans 6-5.
Slamming the door on the Trojan bats in the last 5 2/3 innings of this contest were 6-foot-5, 230 pound RHP Joe Turek and 6-foot-7, 205 pound RHP Nate Waterman.
Turek allowed an unearned run and two hits in his 4 2/3 innings of relief of Mustang starting pitcher Mike Spano. Spano did not allow a hit but walked four batters and allowed four runs, three earned, in his 1 1/3 innings of work on the mound.
Waterman fired a scoreless Trojans (6-5) seventh to complete the Mustang (11-1) victory.
Senior Matt Scolan continued his torrid hitting for the Mustangs with two singles, a triple and his second home run of the season and four RBI. After hitting for the cycle against Hinsdale South on Thursday, Scolan fell a homer short of hitting for the cycle on Friday against South. On Tuesday he fell a double short of hitting for the cycle.
Senior Joe Consensa had a double and a triple and drive home his 19th and 20th ribbies of the season for the 'Stangs. With his 20 RBI, Consensa leads the Enterprise/Bugle Newspapers Area.
Senior Cole Wareheim had three hits, including a triple and an RBI.
The Trojans (6-5), who had just two hits, were led by sophomore Tony Konopiots who singled and drove home a Trojans run. Senior David Marshall singled for the other DGN hit and scored two runs.

PLAINFIELD EAST 6 JOLIET WEST 3
After the SPC East co-leaders from Joliet West (7-6, 4-1) scored two runs in the top of the sixth to tie the game at 3-3, the host Bengals answered.
The Bengals (5-6, 3-2) took the lead on a fielder's choice scoring Reid Erickson, who had led off the sixth with a single. Sophomore Brady Louck and junior Caden Dyhr followed with RBI singles to give the Bengals a 6-3 lead.
Erickson (2 IP, 2R, 3H, 0ER WP) retired the Tigers in the seventh for the huge Bengal victory.
Bengal starting pitcher Cristian Mitchelle allowed one run and scattered eight hits in his quality five innings on the mound for the Bengals.
The Tigers were led by senior Camden Karczewski who had a pair of singles, a double and drove home a Tigers run. Joe Wokurka chipped in with two singles and an RBI, while the area's triple-crown threat, senior Ty Batusich went 1-for-2.
Batusich is now hitting an area-leading .606 with an area leading five home runs and is second in the area and 19 RBI.
ROMOEOVILLE 3 JOLIET CENTRAL 0
The Spartans (5-8, 2-3) were led by their senior RHP Ulysses Munoz, who fired a three-hit shutout at the Steelmen (1-12, 0-5) and junior Nick Kolze.
Kolze gave Munoz all the support he would need when he launched a three-run bomb over the right field fence for a 3-0 Spartan lead in the top of the fourth.
AJ Sanchez had a 2-for-2 day at the plate for the 'Ville with two singles.
The Steelmen were led again by junior Gabe Dunne, who had a single in three at bats.
CENTRAL SUBURBAN SOUTH
MAINE SOUTH 4 NILES WEST 3
After Niles West (10-4, 2-3) took the lead 3-2 in the top of the seventh, the Hawks (7-8, 2-3) scored twice in the bottom of the seventh for the CSL South walk-off winner.
Hawks senior Timmy O'Brien led off the Hawks seventh with a walk. Andrew Randazzo (2-for-3) got plunked and both scored on a two-run, walk-off double off the bat of senior Luke Kracik. Hawk fans were last seen having a victory celebration on Dee Road.
EAST SUBURBAN CATHOLIC
MARIST 9 BENET ACADEMY 2
The ESCC leaading Redhawks (14-2) swept away the Redhawks (3-6, 1-3), who were led by sophomore Luke Bafia and junior Pete Messina. Bafia and Messina both singled and drove home the two Redwing runs.

The MSC East leading Panthers (12-0, 7-0) swept the Lions (1-7, 0-6), who were led by sophomore Joe Raineri, who had two singles and an RBI.

Westmont (2-15) was led by Noah Grimm who had a pair of singles and drove home a Sentinel run.
