Zonta Club of Joliet Host 2023 LUNAFEST March 30

The Zonta Club of the Joliet Area invites the community to attend their LUNAFEST film festival on March 30 from 5 to 9 p.m. at the Renaissance Center, 214 N. Ottawa Street in Joliet. Tickets are $45 which includes dinner, cash bar with a signature martini, and the viewing of 7 short films written, produced, and directed by women.

This event, emceed by Zontian Essence Clark, centers around films that inspire and champion change while raising scholarship funds for women advancing their education at Joliet Junior College through a Zonta Club of the Joliet Area endowed scholarship fund.

In 2001, LUNA®, the makers of the LUNA Bar, launched LUNAFEST® as the very first traveling film festival featuring films by and about women. Starting with one small California premiere, LUNAFEST has elevated the work of more than 175 filmmakers at 2,900 screenings. The Zonta Club of the Joliet Area is proud to bring this thought-provoking event to our community during Women's History Month. For the past 22 years, LUNAFEST has elevated a powerful and diverse set of women filmmakers, shining a spotlight on stories that compel discussion, make you laugh, tug at your heartstrings and motivate you to make a difference in your community.

In alignment to the event's purpose of amplifying the diverse, inspiring work of women and gender nonconforming filmmakers, the theme of the Joliet-area LUNAFEST is, "Bossing Up" – Empowered Women, Empower Women." To highlight the empowered women within our community, the Zonta Club of the Joliet-Area is offering a special $250 Moonbeam Sponsorship that shines the spotlight on women sponsors during a looping slideshow projected on the main screen at the event. All women supporting the LUNAFEST theme of empowering others can participate in this sponsorship and, if they wish, can feature a picture of themselves, their company's logo, website, phone number, and/or address on a designated slide and include marketing materials in the event swag bag.
